Did you ever have a toy box as a child, full of all your special goodies and toys? When I was young, my sister and I each had a toy box at the end of our beds. It was the kind you could sit on if you wanted to. I distinctly remember, right after we got them, we each attempted to sleep in those things. We’d pulled hers into my room, put blankets in them, and went to sleep. Sort of. I woke up in the middle of the night all cramped up, and went and crawled back into my soft poofy bed. Most of the toys I owned were in that box, though; I even had one side of it nicely appointed for my Barbie collection.
I still have a toy box, but its contents are far more, shall we say, mature than what I stored in the one I had as a child. It is perhaps a bit smaller than the original one, and a lot less ornate, but the toys I store in it are far more, well, entertaining. The box I had as a child was decorated with the cartoon characters of the day – I honestly don’t even recall what they were. Today, however, my toy box is a simple, semi-opaque plastic storage bin bought from Home Depot.
Let’s open it up and see what’s in it, shall we?
