It is the end of summer down here and we are still having days and days of temperatures of 38+C (100+F). The heat is one thing but along with it comes ultra violet radiation which causes 3 main types of skin cancer.
I have had all of the skin cancers!!
Do not take them lightly.
Basal skin cancers may not look like much but they can develop under the skin, so a little spot can then require major "work", eg a 1mmspot on the face had a growth of about 4cm under it and needed plastic surgery to fix. (I have had too many of these to remember how many).
Squamous cell carcinoma are not as common. They may appear to be like an untreated ulcer (yes I've had at least 3 of these {tests can confuse with Basal}, one of which the Doc said if I had left another 6 months I may have lost my arm).
And then there's melanoma - had it : needed 2 operations (and it was only about1.5mm). There are about 13,000 new cases of this cancer each year in Australia with about 1,500 people dying.
So just saying take care in the sun.
